Barnsley FC players and Barnsley FC Community Trust students celebrate Barnsley Foodbank on National Foodbank Day!
6th September is National Foodbank Day. We were delighted to be able to join Barnsley Foodbank earlier today at one of their donation points to lend a helping hand.
We were joined by Barnsley FC players Theo Chapman and Aaron Atkinson, along with Barnsley FC Community Trust Foundation Degree Students and Toby Tyke. Everyone pitched in to help sort stock, hand our leaflets and help get the ever important donations.
Barnsley Foodbank is part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 1,200 foodbanks, working to tackle food poverty and hunger in our local communities, as well as across the UK.
Georgina Arnold of Barnsley Foodbank said, “We are so grateful for the support of Barnsley FC and Barnsley FC Community Trust. Their support through donation drives, food collections and volunteering is amazing and we can’t wait to work with them throughout the season.”
Amy Milne of Barnsley FC Community Trust added, “We value our partnership with Barnsley Foodbank and we try to help them whenever and wherever we can. The work they do for food poverty in the Barnsley community is unmatched. We are grateful to Theo and Aaron for taking the time to come and lend a helping hand and we look forward to continuing our partnership this year”
