Reds duo visit St Mary’s Primary

Barnsley Football Club’s Alex Mowatt and Brad Collins visited St Mary’s Primary School this afternoon.

Alex and Brad were the latest set of Reds first-teamers to gave up their time to meet the pupils.

The duo took part in a fun question and answer assembly which began with introductions before selected pupils asked their previously prepared questions.

The floor was then opened up to the rest of the children in what was an interesting and engaging experience for both the pupils and the players.

Alex and Brad then stayed behind to sign autographs.

Neither players are strangers to giving back to the local community. Brad recently visited RitC’s October Holiday Camp, whilst Alex attended the community’s Summer Soccer Camp earlier in the season.

Influential Midfielder Alex explained why the player visit was enjoyable for everyone involved.

He said: “It was a little Q&A so we got some funny questions and it was good to see the kids.”

Brad, who arrived at Oakwell in June, also gave his opinion on why these visits have a positive impact on the community.

“I think it’s really important to come to places like this because when you are younger, you really look up to it, so it’s important to give it back to the community.”
