Premier League Primary Stars Social Action Project sees Primary School visit local care home!
Littleworth Grange Outwood Academy’s School Parliament have been working on their social action project for the past few weeks as part of our Premier League Primary Stars programme. The children we’re given the task of what they would like to do to help the local community. They were really enthusiastic to visit a local care home to help spread some joy to residents and staff to combat loneness in older people especially after the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Mr Brightmore, from Littleworth Grange initially got in contact with Cherry Trees care home in Lundwood where activities co-ordinator Mel was happy to arrange the visit. The children spent time hand making Christmas cards so they had something to give to residents upon their arrival.
During the visit, residents and children took part in lots of activities together including Christmas craft making, carpet Bowles and chairobics. The afternoon was finished off with a nice piece of ‘old school’ sponge cake and some juice.
Premier League Primary Stars officer added: ‘It has been great to work with the School Parliament at Littleworth Grange to deliver their Social Action project. Visiting, the residents and delivering their Christmas Cards, they worked extremely hard planning the visit and the joy on the faces on the children and the residents was excellent to see’
Mr Brightmore said: ‘The Social Action Project was a real success in our school. The School Parliament identified an area of school that they would like to improve which was to make links with the community and provide company and enjoyment for the residents at Cherry Tree Care home. The children extremely enjoyed the visit, delivering Christmas Cards for the residents and joining in with fun activities. The smiles on the faces of the children and residents was priceless!‘
