Want to combine football and fitness for people of all abilities for just £1? Then get down to our weekly Soccercise sessions!
Running from 17:30 every Tuesday and Thursday in the East Stand Concourse, Soccercise sessions consist of aerobics, typically lasting 45-60 minutes, followed by a variety of fitness exercises with football.
Participants can pair up or even create their own workout to do at home. It can be tailored for all levels of fitness to help introduce you to football, re-familiarise those who haven’t played for a while or be used as an alternative way to keep fit.
The inclusion of footballs adds co-ordination and core stability to familiar exercises. It builds skill and confidence of working with a football. Footballs are provided and you don’t need specialised kit just trainers and comfortable clothing.
Reds in the Community to increase female participation in sport and physical exercise run Female-Only courses at Oakwell and surrounding areas. Studies show that 65% of 14-year-old girls do not reach recommended levels of physical activity and 43% of adult women do little or no exercise.
Through courses like Soccercise, we aim to meet the needs of girls to improve their fitness levels and overall attitude towards health and fitness. All activities are coordinated by our Women & Girls Development Worker Lynn Goodman and delivered by female coaches and instructors.
