Yesterday was a truly inspiring and memorable day as we welcomed Show Racism the Red Card to work with several of our local primary schools. The event was both informative and fun, delivering an essential message about inclusion, respect, and standing up against racism.
The session was packed with engaging activities and powerful discussions, helping young people understand the importance of challenging discrimination and promoting equality in their communities. The energy and enthusiasm from the pupils were fantastic, and their thoughtful contributions made the day even more impactful.
We were also incredibly fortunate to be joined by five Barnsley FC first team players Tennai Watson, Vimal Yoganathan, Caylan Vickers, Reyes Cleary, and Nathanael Ogbeta who took part in a brilliant Q&A session. Their openness, honesty, and encouragement truly inspired the children. They also took time to sign autographs and chat with the pupils, creating unforgettable memories for everyone involved.
Schools officer at Barnsley FC Community Trust Macauley Hobson said, “These sessions are really important as they are real issues that we’re facing in society, and particularly with children it’s all about educating them and getting them to challenge racism if they see it. These sessions are great to educate and give us the tools to support and kick out racism in society and football.”
