Barnsley FC Community Trust is delighted to launch its brand-new Healthy Mind, Healthy Body programme, a women-only wellness and exercise initiative made possible through funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.
The free programme has been designed to support women aged 18 and over by providing a welcoming and supportive environment where participants can improve both their physical and mental wellbeing. Whether attending to boost energy levels, reduce stress, increase confidence, or simply meet new people, the sessions offer an opportunity to prioritise health in a relaxed and inclusive setting.
Research continues to highlight the strong connection between physical activity and positive mental wellbeing, and the Healthy Mind, Healthy Body programme aims to empower women across Barnsley to make small, sustainable changes that can have a lasting impact on their lives.
Participants can take part in sessions at two locations across the borough:
Mondays
Barnsley FC Community Trust
Grove Street, Barnsley, S71 1ET
7:00pm – 8:30pm
Wednesdays
St Peter’s Church
102 Brinkman Street, Barnsley, S70 1JQ
10:00am – 11:00am
All sessions are completely free to attend thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which supports projects that help communities thrive and improve the lives of local people.
The programme combines physical activity with a strong focus on wellbeing, creating a safe space where women can develop healthier lifestyles while building friendships and social connections. Sessions are suitable for a range of fitness levels, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and supported regardless of previous experience.
Sean Margison, Head of Health and Wellbeing at Barnsley FC Community Trust, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for supporting the launch of Healthy Mind, Healthy Body. We know that regular physical activity can have a huge impact on both physical and mental wellbeing, but we also understand that taking the first step can sometimes be difficult. This programme is about creating a welcoming, supportive environment where women can come together, improve their health, build confidence and connect with others in their community. We’re excited to see the positive difference these sessions will make for local women across Barnsley.”
Barnsley FC Community Trust encourages women looking to improve their wellbeing, meet new people and become more active to get involved and experience the benefits of the new programme.
