Head of Health and Wellbeing, Sean Margison, Honoured with Exceptional Achievement Award

We are thrilled to celebrate our Head of Health and Wellbeing, Sean Margison, who has been recognised with the Exceptional Achievement Award at the Proud of Barnsley Awards 2025.

Sean’s nomination came from members of our Reminiscent Reds group a community initiative that began as a support network for people living with dementia, helping them stay connected and engaged. Over time, the group has grown into a vital lifeline for tackling social isolation, offering friendship, stimulating quizzes, heartfelt conversations, and, of course, plenty of good old-fashioned brews.

Sean’s dedication and passion have made a real difference in people’s lives, and this award is a testament to his outstanding commitment to health and wellbeing in our community.

Reminiscent Reds volunteer, Phil Hall said: I’ve known Sean for several years, having been a part of several of the Barnsley FC Community Trust groups and a volunteer with the Reminiscent Reds group. Sean has helped many people and made some good friends in that time, and he is always there to listen and help if anyone ever has any problems. I know he gets a lot himself from helping others, he is a credit to the Trust and the Barnsley community as a whole. A richly deserved award.

Sean added: I’d like to thank all the people who nominated me and everyone who took the time to give me a vote. It was a great evening and fantastic to see all the great work that people do across Barnsley. I guess like them you just get on with things as best you can. Sometimes you are so caught up in things you don’t realise the impact that the sessions are having on participants, and that’s across all the Trusts provision. It’s nice to be in a position to offer support that not only helps improve physical and mental health but also keeps people connected. Small things matter and if as a charity we can help someone even in the smallest way it makes it all worthwhile.
