The Rucksack Project Barnsley

The Rucksack Project Barnsley is a voluntary movement that revolves around a simple, but compassionate task to help those that are sleeping rough, or in desperate need, through the cold winter months.

It’s not about grand gestures, and it’s not about donating lots of money or making a big commitment. It’s about giving up a little of your time, the odd old or unused belonging, to help somebody who has fallen on hard times and then encouraging others to do the same.

The concept is so simple – get a rucksack and fill it with some items that will help to make winter a little more comfortable for someone who is sleeping rough this winter, these include:

A sleeping bag

A fleece or warm coat

Some thick socks and clean (unused) underwear

Gloves and a wooly hat

Some non-perishable food, such as cans of soup (with ring pulls) and cereal bars

A thermos flask and a spoon

(please leave the thermos flask empty as they will be filled up with hot soup on the day as people come to collect them).

On SATURDAY 17th DECEMBER at MIDDAY please head along, with any and all belongings you wish to donate, to the BARNSLEY CHURCHES DROP IN PROJECT (John Street, S70 1LL) at our BIG hand-out, where you can be a BIG part of getting packs of donations to someone who is truly in need of your help.
