We are delighted to announce that Jackson Smith has been named our PFA Community Champion for the 2024/25 season.
Jackson has demonstrated outstanding dedication and enthusiasm in his community engagement efforts throughout the year. His commitment to supporting a wide range of local initiatives has been truly commendable, and his consistent involvement has made a meaningful impact.
Whether visiting schools, attending community sessions, or engaging with fans and participants from diverse groups, Jackson brought a positive attitude and an infectious smile to every interaction. His approachability, kindness, and professionalism set an excellent example, both on and off the pitch.
On receiving the award Jackson said, “I’ll be honest when I first come here, I didn’t know this award was a thing so to be named it at the end of the year is an amazing achievement. I’ve put a lot of work in this season getting out into the community and meeting different people, so I’m really happy to be recognised for that, I thank The PFA and Barnsley for putting me forward for it”

His first community visit came just days after joining Barnsley FC, which speaks volumes about his character. Since then, he’s always looked for opportunities to get involved, and the participants have loved having him at the sessions.”
Professional Footballers’ Association CEO Maheta Molango, said, “The PFA has once again been immensely proud of the outstanding efforts of players this season and we feel they should be recognised for their support and involvement in the local community. The Award will hopefully raise awareness of the importance many of our members attach to their roles off the pitch and highlight their continued commitment to support those most in need along with engaging in areas where they have a personal interest.
