Yorkshire 3 Peaks Charity Challenge

Join us for an adventure in the North Yorkshire Dales on Saturday 8th October 2016!

Fans are invited to join us for an adventure in the North Yorkshire Dales as we take on the magnificent and famous three highest peaks; Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough! The challenge will take place on Saturday 8th October which coincides with the international football break, so there is no Reds game on this weekend!

The 24.5 mile Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is renowned for being one of Yorkshire’s toughest challenges and is one of those must do events. It should not be taken lightly, but once you’ve completed it the amazing sense of achievement makes it all worthwhile! The walk kicks-off at Horton–in–Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire and walkers will be fully supported on the day with expert guides, maps, refreshments, commemorative T-Shirt and a certificate issued to each walker completing the challenge. Free return coach transport will also be provided from Oakwell Stadium, to the start point in North Yorkshire.

All money raised from the charity challenge will be used to support Barnsley Hospice (Registered Charity No. 700586) and Reds in the Community (Registered Charity No. 1118735). Proceeds will be split equally between the two charities (50% each).

Barnsley Hospice is a charity that provides specialist palliative care and support to hundreds of local people and their families each year.  The Hospice’s main priority is to achieve the best possible quality of life for patients with a life limiting illness, whilst supporting their families, during the period of illness and bereavement. As a specialist care provider, the range of skills offered include, pain and symptom management, emotional support and end of life care. The Barnsley Hospice team have to raise over £2m per year to stay open.

Reds in the Community is a registered charity and the aim is simple – to help improve the quality of life for people in our local community. The charity uses the power of football and Barnsley Football Club to engage and improve the lives of local people through a range of programmes and initiatives. The money raised through this event will help us fund the range of programmes and continue to make a positive influence on the lives of local people. Your support will allow the charity to provide much needed funding for projects such as our Fit Reds health initiative, disability sports groups, 16-18 education programmes and various other projects which are vital in supporting the local community. It currently costs just short of £2000 a day to run the charity and it is only through the incredible support from our fans that these targets are met. By walking for Reds in the Community, you will be helping us help people across Barnsley.

Registration for the challenge costs just £25 which includes return coach travel from Oakwell Stadium to the start point in North Yorkshire, expert guides and support, and a commemorative t-shirt. Spaces are limited and you can register your place online now by clicking here!
