Reds in the Community are delighted to announce that Adam Hammill has been named our Education Ambassador for the 2017/18 season!
The winger has taken up the role as a way of further supporting the work of Barnsley FC’s and Reds in the Community’s education department.
Hammill will work closely alongside RITC by helping to engage young people with our Education courses.
He was involved with our Education department last year, regularly attending sessions and handing out awards to students, but has now stepped up to the role of ambassador.
Upon being named ambassador, Hammill said: “I’m delighted to take up the position as Education Ambassador with our Reds in the Community’s education programme.
“Education is of vital importance to everyone, especially higher education for those looking to further their studies and Reds in the Community’s facilities and setup will help stimulate learning.
“As a footballer, it’s important that I don’t forget I am a role model and representative for the Club and it is massive that we take up an active role working within the community.
“It’s great to give back to the community in this way, this is a family run Club and it’s nice to be able to represent our Education department.
“I’m the new ambassador and it’s a great honour to be able to represent the Club in this way.”
Education Officer Mark Crossfield is thrilled to be able to get Adam on board on a permanent basis with the department.
“To have a player like Adam as our Education Ambassador is huge for us,” Mark added.
“Adam is an icon for this football club and to have him represent us is fantastic for everyone. The students idolise Adam and really look up to him.
“For him to be there to hand out student awards and be our point of contact at Education is a dream.”
