Barnsley FC Community Trust Welcome Barnsley Mayor and Mayoress

We were elated to welcome Barnsley’s 153rd mayor, Cllr James Michael Stowe to the Community Trust Building on Wednesday 24th January 2024. The Mayor and Mayoress were invited to join us for the afternoon where they were given the opportunity to learn more about the organisation as a whole and how we support the Barnsley community.

We facilitated visits to several of our sessions to give them an idea of the broad range of groups we work with, including our inclusive reds disability session, our education department and our Reds Connect Sporting Memories group which helps combat social isolation. They were then given a small tour of Oakwell.

Head of Foundation at Barnsley FC Community Trust, Kieron Campbell said: “It was fantastic to be able to invite the Mayor and Mayoress to the Community Trust and show them the work we do as a charity. We really enjoyed showing them around and the important impact our sessions have on our participants across our programmes”

Mayor, Cllr James Michael Stowe said, “I loved meeting both staff and participants from Barnsley FC Community trust. It was great to chat to all the participants and have a tour around Oakwell. I really enjoyed seeing the work they do and wish them all the best in the future”.
