We’re delighted to announce the return of the Summer Sports Van in Partnership with What’s your Move and Barnsley Local Area Councils.

We will be travelling to local area parks and open spaces throughout the summer holidays to bring free multi-sport activities to children in the Barnsley to keep them active. The sessions are open to all children and young people in Barnsley. Sessions take place in parks and green spaces across all Local Areas in Barnsley to ensure there is parity of opportunity for all children and young people.

We have targeted a combination of popular local spaces with high footfall and community based green spaces frequented by families and young people. Participants just turn up, take part, get active and have fun. The sessions also give children the chance to stay connected to friends as well as get active.

Head of Foundation at Reds in the Community Kieron Campbell added, ‘We are excited at the return of the Summer Sports Van. We saw a fantastic level of engagement last year and are hoping to go even bigger this year. The programme gives us the opportunity to engage with children of all abilities and deliver high quality multi-sport activities throughout the Barnsley area giving them a chance to be active and have fun in a safe and inclusive environment’
