The Game Changer project is delivered through Barnsley FC Community Trust and local partners made up of Barnsley Council, Sheffield FA, Coalfields Regeneration Trust, and Barnsley Central Area Council Team. It is part of a national programme delivered by the Football Foundation and Sport England, rolled out nationally across 25 different areas of England under ‘Active Through Football’.
The project is ring-fenced for the Kendray and Worsbrough areas of Barnsley focusing on Mental & Physical Health and Wellbeing, Food Security, Employability & Skills and bringing the Community together.
The main aim is to unite the community through a variety of activities, physical and non-active to engage everyone within the area from 16 years up. From football sessions to walking groups, exercise classes to Chairobics, arts and crafts to coffee & conversations. If you want support to enable your community, The Game Changer Project can make it happen in Worsbrough and Kendray.
Community Champions support the delivery of the project, engaging with residents, and delivering weekly sessions and events to bring the community together in various ways both with active and non-active engagement. All our community champions are local to the project, who are proud of where they live and strive to make a difference in their community.
We are constantly adding activities to our programme, from conversations with our local community to find out what people want and need. To keep up to date with the ‘Game Changer’ please follow us on Facebook.
