RITC host Doncaster Dynamos Walking Football for EFL Week of Action
On Wednesday 18th January 2023 we invited Doncaster Dynamo’s Walking Football Group to come and take part in some friendly matches against our own Reds Connect group.
Walking Football is perfect for people who want to stay active, get out of the house and make new friends. We have been running our groups here at Oakwell for over 8 years and have a number of long term participants who have benefitted not only physically but also mentally.
Doncaster Dynamos participant Paul said: ‘I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so I had to make some lifestyle changes, I joined the walking football group and I really enjoy it, this together with making some nutritional changes my diabetes is now in remission. It’s been great to come here to Reds in the Community expand the Walking Football network after hosting them last year.’
Walking Football opens the door for players who want to continue playing, or want to return to the game, or who haven’t played that much before.
The slower pace and reduced physical contact makes Walking Football a great way to display your touch, passing and shooting. For all kinds of people across England, Walking Football means getting together, having fun, and keeping fit.
We really enjoyed hosting Doncaster Dynamos and hope that this network will continue in the future.
