Reds in the Community are delighted to announce that Barnsley FC Ladies will be entering into the open age section of the Sheffield and Hallamshire Women’s and Girls League. 

Following discussions with Barnsley FC and Barnsley FC Ladies prior to COVID-19 it was agreed that this is the ideal time to begin the next step of our project with the support and guidance from all parties involved to move in the right direction. 

Barnsley FC Ladies’ addition of a senior section will allow for a clear pathway for 160+ junior players once they begin the transition into open age football, whilst also allowing players from around the borough to represent Barnsley Football Club. 

This will be a long-term project that puts the community first and will be run by the non-profit grassroots junior section committee. 

More details will be published on social media over the coming days regarding open trials and volunteer roles within the club that will be advertised.
