Women’s Shadow Scholarship Open Trials return this MAY!
Reds in the Community will be hosting open trials for the Women’s Shadow Scholarship programme Monday 30th May!
1pm – 3:30pm
The exciting initiative allows players aged 16-19 to develop their footballing ability in the hope of moving into professional/semi professional football on RitC’s equally impressive education setup. Players will train daily in a scheme that will mirror the already established male Shadow Scholarship which has previously developed professional footballers at other clubs around the EFL as well as competing in the National Football Youth League and a national cup.
There is also the opportunity for players to go on football tours, as the U19’s travelled to Barcelona, while students have also trained at St George’s Park and been on a two-week coaching and football experience to Malta.
Reds in the Community’s Male Shadow Scholarship Programme, which was launched for the 2018/19 academic year, has already proved to be a success with defender Callum Walmsley securing a U18 scholarship with Barnsley FC’s Academy, Steven Simpson securing a professional contract with Barnsley FC’s Academy, and most recently goalkeeper Harry Ambler signing for Bradford City U18 Academy.
The newly launched Women’s Shadow Scholarship will use the same blueprint as the highly successful male programme, competing in either the National Football Youth League or the EFL CEFA league.
