Shadow Scholarship | Open Day
Reds in the Community will be holding an Open Day for the groundbreaking Shadow Scholarship programme on Thursday 27th February at the Oakwell Indoor Centre from 6pm until 8pm.
This exciting initiative gives college leavers aged 18-23 the chance to develop their footballing ability in the hope of moving into professional football through Barnsley Football Club, whilst also studying on RitC’s equally impressive education setup.
Studying on RitC’s education programme provides students with the opportunity to gain a Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development, an industry-recognised coaching award.
In conjunction with the University of South Wales, this two-year course designed by the English Football League Trust, develops all of the required experiences to operate as a professional coach.
Students will learn key skills associated with football coaching and development, social inclusion, and sports management. The programme will be based predominantly at Barnsley Football Club, but will also include a minimum of five days a year at the University of South Wales Sport Park, a £3.7m state-of-the-art coaching and performance development centre.
