Reds in the Community host NFYL All-Stars Trials
Reds in the Community and Barnsley FC are set to host the NYFL National All-Stars trials at Oakwell tomorrow!
The first round of the National Football Youth League All-Stars trials sees players from the North and Midlands compete at Oakwell with further trials for Southern teams at Bisham Abbey.
NFYL provides opportunities for clubs to nominate three to four of their top players in the hope of being selected for the NFYL National All-Star Team in December.
A Northern team will then face their Southern counterparts in an All-Stars game, with the pick of the players being brought together to form a national side.
Once selections are complete, a national team will then play against Academy sides across the country whilst also having the opportunity to tour Spain, competing against La Liga teams.
Barnsley FC Academy Manager Bobby Hassell and former Premier League striker Deon Burton will be just two members of the selecting panel.
Alongside presenting the chance to be part of the NFYL All-Stars National Team, the players will also be able to showcase their talent to an array of scouts from professional football clubs.
Four players have been selected from our already successful Barnsley FC Shadow Scholarship team – Lewis French, Callum Walmsley, Dom Claxton and Essa N’Dow.
Louise Macey, founder of the NFYL, said: “We have so many talented players in the NFYL and we are always looking for ways to give opportunities for our players. It is something very special when we put the most talented players in the league together as one team and we hope that they can follow in the footsteps of last years All-Stars’ keeper Billy Johnson, who is now on professional terms with Norwich City.”
As well as the All-Stars trials, Reds in the Community will also be hosting the round two draw of the NFYLÂ Cup.
The Barnsley FC Shadow Scholarship booked their place in the hat with an impressive 6-1 defeat of Northampton Town.
Reds legend Bruce Dyer will be picking out balls for the draw alongside NFYLÂ founder Louise Macey.
