The Reds in the Community Shadow Scholarship will begin their first ever season in the National Football Youth League away at Rochdale AFC North.

Barnsley Football Club will be represented in the NFYL U19 division for the first time this year after the launch of the Shadow Scholarship programme.

The initiative, which will be led by head coach Mark Tinker, sees the players train on a daily basis in a highly professional environment whilst studying within the equally impressive RITC education setup.

After travelling to face Rochdale on Wednesday 5^th September, the young Reds will then return to Oakwell a week later to play host to Everton FC.

Further games against Crystal Palace FC Foundation NC (A) and Carlisle United PV (H) follow in the opening Month of the campaign.

The final game of 2018 comes in the form of a trip to the North East to take on Sunderland AFC’s Foundation of Light on 5^th December.

We will begin 2019 against the same opponents back at Oakwell on 9^th January, with Rochdale travelling to South Yorkshire the following week for the reverse fixture of the opening day.

The final home game of the season will see the Reds host Newcastle United Foundation on 27^th February before successive away games at West Brom Albion Foundation and Burnley FC finish the 2018/19 campaign.
