Barnsley FC Players visit Local Primary School for World Mental Health Day through Premier League our Primary Stars Programme.
Earlier today, Thursday 10th October 2024 Barnsley FC forward Stephen Humphrys and Left-Wing back Georgie Gent paid a visit to a local primary school as part of World Mental Health day.
Key Stage Two students of Hunningley Primary Academy had a special assembly where they got to ask Stephen and Georgie about all things football and mental health. The students came up with some fantastic questions for the players and were given a real insight to how looking after our mental health is important. The boys gave some great answers and advice on dealing with mental health within sport and how physical activity can really help. One lucky student who gave the best question was gifted a football signed by the Barnsley FC squad.
Barnsley FC Community Trust’s Premier League Primary Stars Officer, Macauley Hobson said: “It was great to organise this event for the school. We appreciate the players taking time out of their day to make an impact within the community especially on an important day like World Mental Health Day. We had some great engagement from the players, students and teachers.”
World Mental Health day is celebrated on the 10th of October every year.
A simple conversation can make a huge difference to someone who’s struggling with their mental health. It’s all about showing you care.
Why not check in with a friend, colleague or family member this #WMHD, and show someone that their mental health matters.
We would like to thank Stephen and Georgie for attending this afternoon. It is greatly appreciated.
