Doorstep sport Clubs Launches

Doorstep Sport Clubs are funded through StreetGames UK and provide fun and informal sports clubs that operate at the right time, in the right place and in the right style. A Doorstep Sport Club provides a vibrant and varied sporting offer to young people in communities that is designed to grow their motivation and ability to adopt a sporting habit for life.

Doorstep Sport Clubs exist in many different forms and are delivered by a range of organisations. However, at their core they provide young people aged 14-25 years old accessible opportunities to take part in sport within their local community. Providing vibrant, varied, fun and sociable sessions, with a strong emphasis on youth leadership. The initative aims to engage young people aged 14-25 in fun and challenging activities to grow motivation for life-long participation in sport. We aim to create opportunities for young people to lead, volunteer and support the doorstep club to enhance their personal and professional development.

Reds in the Community coaches will deliver multi-sports sessions throughout 2016 to encourage and develop young people in the local area. The scheduled sessions will provide both opportunities for young people to engage in physical activity and develop personally and professionally through opportunities to volunteer and gain qualifications. Young people will be supported in volunteering throughout the project to help run the sessions with support from RITC staff. Accessing this volunteering focussed programme will support young people to develop valuable life-skills and accredited qualifications through Activator Courses.
