Four Barnsley Football Club players visited pupils at two local primary schools this afternoon.
Jack Walton and Cauley Woodrow met youngsters at Joseph Locke Primary School while defensive duo Zeki Fryers and Ethan Pinnock travelled to St Helen’s Primary Academy.
Jack and Cauley spent their time working their way around different age groups and classes to take part in question and answer sessions.
They also had fun playing rugby with a PE class and posing for pictures with the children and staff.
Zeki and Ethan also took part in a Q&A session, this time as part of a full school assembly before coming together for a group photo.
Cauley explained why he and the other Reds players enjoy giving back to the local community through visits such as todays.
He said: “It’s been good. It’s a few times that I’ve come down to primary schools now and it’s always nice to give back to the community. It was me and Jack Walton that came down today and we really enjoyed it. We met loads of children and went outside when they were doing PE. It’s been good fun.
“It’s important. I’ve said it before – we were in their position once and I remember people coming into school and being really excited about it. Speaking to footballers when I was younger got me really excited so it’s nice to be able to give a little bit of excitement to their day as well. We tried to give them a little bit of advice – to try and keep doing your homework and keep working hard. A lot of them want to be footballers so it’d be nice that if we can give them a little bit of knowledge then maybe one day they could be footballers too.”
