Barnsley Football Club players George Moncur and Cauley Woodrow visited Milefield Primary School earlier today.
The duo met pupils and staff from Key Stage Two, visiting four year groups in total from the Grimethorpe school.
George and Cauley fielded questions about their childhood, how they got into football and what it is like to play for the Reds at Oakwell Stadium alongside many more topics.
Cauley, who signed a permanent deal to stay at Oakwell earlier this month after initially joining on loan from Fulham, enjoyed his visit and is looking forward to contributing more to the Barnsley community moving forward.
He said: “It’s been good. Me and George have come down and obviously met all the children and answered a few Q&A questions. It was nice to meet to all of the children and a lot of them are Barnsley fans so we got a nice warm welcome.
“I remember when I was a kid, people used to come into the school and it’d make you really excited [to see] people to look up to. It’s nice to give back a little bit and put smiles on faces. It’s good to be a permanent figure and hopefully I can do a lot more things like this.”
It was a special day for one pupil in particular, who celebrated her birthday by having two of her favourite Reds players singing ‘happy birthday’ to her.
Cauley added: “One of the little girls asked if we could sing her happy birthday so me and George led it and everyone joined in. Like I said, putting smiles on faces is what it’s all about!”
