Reds in the Community set for EFL Day Of Action

All 72 EFL Clubs to demonstrate the power of football in changing young people’s lives

Reds in the Community will be joining with the other 71 clubs in the English Football League to celebrate the EFL Day Of Action tomorrow (20/03).

The event provides clubs from across the country the chance to demonstrate the positive impact football can have in changing people’s lives.

Every team from the Championship, League One and League Two will be showcasing the innovative and groundbreaking work they achieve in the local community through four key themes: education, health, social inclusion and sports participation.

Barnsley FC and Reds in the Community will be marking the day by visiting three local schools, running fun-filled sessions and allowing the children to pose for pictures with club mascot Toby Tyke.

The first stop on our Day of Action tour will be Jump Primary School at noon while Toby Tyke and our coaches will also be visiting Brampton Cortonwood Infant School and Cherrydale Primary.

EFL Chairman, Ian Lenagan said:
“Football continues to support its communities seven days a week, 365 days a year through our unique network of Club community trusts.
“Bringing all 72 together on one day for the EFL Day of Action highlights the special role the EFL has in society and our collective ability to make a positive and lasting impact to the lives of millions of people.
“It is fantastic to see so many managers and players across England and Wales coming out in support of the excellent work being undertaken by their own Club right in the heart of their own community.
“There are few sporting organisations that can deliver the scale of innovative and groundbreaking activity we do via our network of Clubs across so many important areas, including inclusion, charitable causes, community engagement, education or health.”
