Barnsley Boundary virtual Relay 2020!

Reds in the Community, Barnsley Football Club staff and Barnsley FC Academy players are set to take part in the ‘Barnsley Boundary Virtual Relay’ supporting Barnsley Hospital Charity!

The Barnsley Boundary is an annual relay race held on the second Saturday of June. Given these unprecedented times, Premier League Primary Stars Officer Gareth Cooke has organised a virtual relay to help raise funds for Barnsley Hospital Charity

Gareth said “Usually the race would take place on one day, this year the race will span over the course of a week.

Entrants can run the same distance as they would on the relay itself but can run it at home or on their leg of the boundary provided they maintain social distancing

Each team will then submit their time and we will find a winner from there

I am asking everyone who wants to take part to donate their entry fee to the Just Giving page I have created, Usually, the money would be donated to the Barnsley Rotary Club, but given the circumstances now it would be better used by the Barnsley Hospital Charity to support our local community

Barnsley Hospital Charity is based at Barnsley Hospital, and operates to support the care and needs of Barnsley Hospital patients, and their families. The charity also provides a number of specialised services, including cancer and surgical services, in conjunction with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. Donations made to Barnsley Hospital Charity make a very real difference to thousands of patient’s lives each and every year, helping to reduce the everyday stresses and anxieties which may be associated with treatments and illnesses.

if you wish to take part it will require a team of ten runners, each running the leg distances and ascents required from their own home and ensuring that they adhere to the government guidelines.
