Barnsley FC players Cameron McGeehan and Jack Walton met students on Reds in the Community’s education programme this afternoon.
This week is the first of the academic year for RitC’s students studying Level One, Two or Three BTEC’s in Sport.
The learners were given an early insight into the perks of studying at Oakwell through spending time with the Reds duo.
Cameron and Jack took part in two question & answer sessions with the Level One and Level Two groups respectively.
The Q&A sessions covered a variety of topics about the Reds first-teamers’ careers, from starting out in academies to playing at Oakwell in the Championship.
It also provided an opportunity for the players to give some advice both on and off the football field.
Cameron and Jack stressed the importance of education, having studied alongside playing when they were scholars.
Education Mentor and Football Coach Joe Bedford spoke about how useful the experience was for the learners.
He said: “It’s fantastic for the students to get to meet Cameron and Jack. They both provided the students with some really useful information and good advice. It’s great to see that Cameron and Jack were both interested to find out more about the Shadow Scholarship and our education setup in general.”
