Case Study: Antony’s Story

Antony began studying with the Reds in September 2012 on the Level 1 Foundation Learning course after a relatively poor experience at school where he admittedly didn’t fulfil his potential. After a nervous start Antony began to flourish on the course and in between progressing on to the Level 2 BTEC Sport course he undertook some work experience with the Sports Participation team helping out on soccer camps and sports days. Starting his Level 2 BTEC Sport course in 2013 Antony began to take full responsibility of his own learning, becoming a key member in the group and setting the bar high with all assignments. This led to Antony achieving the grade profile he needed to progress on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, a 2 year programme which carries UCAS points for University entry – which became Antony’s driving force to succeed. Whilst studying over these 2 years Antony began to build up a robust profile of work experience which varied from sports days and soccer camps to ground tours and first team match day duties, including the famous Toby Tyke role!

Antony has demonstrated an excellent attitude throughout his time at Oakwell and strived to be the best he could in all activities. This has led to Antony securing a place in September 2016 at Leeds Beckett University on a Sports Coaching degree.
